Terms and privacy

Drink responsibly

The game is for adults of legal drinking age where you are. In Denmark that means 18 or over.

Drinking is never required: the game works just as well with a sip, a smell or a glass of water.

Know your limit, drink water along the way, and never drive after drinking.

Facts, ratings and prices

Stories, facts, ratings and prices are partly written with the help of AI and estimated from public sources. They can be wrong or out of date.

Scores are for fun only. There are no prizes and nothing is decided by them.

Not affiliated

Wineguessr is not affiliated with or endorsed by Vivino, Untappd, or any winery, brewery or shop mentioned. Names and trademarks belong to their owners.

What we keep about you

Guests need no account. When you join a game we keep the name and avatar you choose, your table, your guesses and your tasting notes.

Hosts (sommeliers) sign in with an email and a password. We keep their name, email, cellar and tastings until the account is removed.

A token on your device lets you rejoin and see your results. It stays in your browser until you clear it.

Games, players, guesses and notes are deleted automatically 30 days after the game. Per-drink statistics (averages, with no names) are kept to improve future tastings.

Data is stored with Supabase and the site runs on Vercel. There are no ads and no tracking cookies; only the host's login and your language choice use a cookie.

Bottle photos the host takes are sent to Anthropic's AI to read the label, and kept as the drink's photo, which players see after the reveal.

The map is drawn from CARTO's map service, which sees your IP address like any website you load.

Failed sign-ins are counted by IP address and email for a day, to stop password guessing.

Want your name or notes removed sooner? Ask the host: they can delete the evening and everything in it.

No guarantees

The game is offered as it is, without any guarantee, and may change or stop at any time.
